I was in an apartment shared by two friends. It was near downtown LA, and seemed to be in some sort of a high rise building. The inside was rather dark, but nice.  As I walked into the main living space, I came across one of my friends, who was somewhat irritated at me. He apparently was disappointed that something hadn’t worked out in the past. We talked about it and everything was glossed over and fine in a few minutes — a simple misunderstanding.

As I walked over to the window, I opened the blinds, and noticed the tracks of some sort of high-speed urban transit tram. A train rushed by, and quickly left my field of vision.  As it left I studied the surroundings outside the window.  Not too far away, maybe only a quarter of a mile (if that) I could see a huge concentrated skyline of skyscrapers. The entire environment outside of the window was like an urban maze, I didn’t see any roads, just buildings, and congestion.

As I looked towards the tram track, another one came by and out of nowhere I found myself on the tram traveling with it. I was with my friend from before, and we were going somewhere, but I wasn’t sure where to. We approached an underground tunnel (sort of like a subway tunnel I guess).   The train stopped and we got off at the station, which wasn’t lit well, and thus very dark. We walked further and there was a ramp that went down even lower, that spread out into a huge entrance to a building — apparently it was the entrance to a university in the city. The walls on the outside of the building were all glass, so you could inside. Tungsten lights filled the entire inside of the building with a highly saturated shade of yellow light. We went towards the door and entered the building. As we walked in the hallway we came to the first room and entered.

As I came through the door I noticed it was a small classroom, with maybe 30 students in it waiting for a class to start. Everyone was dressed nice wearing suits that had some sort of emblem on them. I remember asking my friend where I should go as he attended his class. He suggested I just sit in the class with him. I figured his major was somewhat interesting, so decided I would do that; however, I decided to first ask the professor if she minded, since the class was small and she would clearly notice me.

I walked up to the desk and introduced myself, she responded. I asked her if she cared if I sat in on her class, to which she gave me the most puzzled look. She basically asked me why on Earth would I want to sit in on her class. She was implying how boring it was, and assuming that I would take no interest in it. I was sort of put off with the fact that she immediately judged me and assumed I would dislike the content of the class.  I figured a good educator would want to be enthusiastic about their subject.  Instead she went on to describe the class and how boring it would be with the hope of convincing me to leave.  Apparently it was a class on “Advanced Refurbishment”, to which at her mention did seem like it would be quite boring. I had nothing else to do since I had to wait for my friend, so I went to find a seat. I never got to see what the class was about because it was then that I awoke.

I was in some strange prehistoric looking world. It was an island and there were mountains in the distance larger than anything I’ve ever seen. The island was barren except for its sandy beaches and sparse vegetation.  As I was standing off the coast somewhat in the water, I walked further, and I noticed the water wasn’t liquid–it was solid like in those satellite images.  I found this strange, and walked directly into the ocean away from the island, and then made a left turn because something caught my eye.  It was this huge mystical looking pole that extended from the water all the way up into space.  As I followed the pole up with my eye, I could see the sky gradually turn a darker shade of blue.  Gazing at the vanishing point of the pole, I could see celestial bodies orbiting it.

As I looked down from the sky, I noticed I had been lifted during my study of the heavens above.  I drifted onto the side of the huge mountain mentioned before.  I was with a team of people on some sort of expedition.  We continued to climb higher, and I had no idea where we were going or why.  Finally we came to this ledge where there appeared to be some sort of strange looking metal door in the side of the mountain.  Someone with me walked up and opened the door.  As we looked in there was a flat plane of rock going directly into the side of the mountain laying flush with the bottom of the door.  As I looked further, noticed the rock gradually faded into molten lava.  This was apparently the entrance to the inside of a volcano.  I could feel the heat, and my vision was blurred from its intensity.  Embers flew through the air, and there was a unique smell hard to describe.  Occasionally the entire ground would shake which would be accompanied by an extremely deep pitched noise.

After looking through the door, we began to venture inside.  I was very hesitant, but was assured it was safe to enter.  We got in and it was pretty amazing.  It was like being in the inside of a huge crater–only the bottom was full of flowing, bubbling molten lava.  One of the people I was with ventured about 25 ft. ahead of me right up to the edge of the lava.  I could barely tell he was even still on solid ground.  As I walked further to follow him–someone appeared out of nowhere.  It was a woman that appeared as if she was out of Greek mythology.  She had the clothes of a warrior, and offered us some of the most amazing food we’ve ever tried.   As we sat with her and ate, we began to feel the volcano shake more and more.  We became concerned that it might erupt, but she assured us we would be alright and continued to offer food.  Eventually the shaking of the volcano became almost continuous, so we bid her farewell and began to retreat.  She gave us some extra food, and we were on our way.  The long voyage down hill probably took hours, but it was blurred to me.  Eventually I found myself awake.

I was in some sort of a nature park on the edge of a mountain with my grandmother.  The mountain was the kind you’d see in the Midwest.  The park had many trees, and I was at the start of a gravel trail that began a path downhill.  As I began to walk down the path, I noticed about ten feet ahead of me and all along the sides of the white gravel trail was the most strange illumination of of a rainbow.  It was as if you had taken a rainbow out of the sky and transposed its light on to the edges of the trail.  Now, there were many trees above, of which the leaves casted shadows onto the trail.  Every place where the sun should have been permitted to shine, a rainbow instead showed, but only along the white gravel path.  The rainbows were dynamic too, the colors kept osculating, and changing in a way that could only be described as psychedelic. As I continued to walk down the path, I began to see more of these rainbows show on the in the distance.  The ones nearby faded–very similar to how one would see mirages on a road appear and vanish.

Eventually it occurred to me that I had my camera with me.  I remember thinking about how this must have been one of the strangest anomalies in nature that was sure to never repeat itself.  Furthermore, I was unsure how much longer this episode would occur.  I had to take a picture that captured the mood and aura of this supernatural occurrence.  It was my duty as a photographer to do so and share it with the world.  Unfortunately I had remembered that my battery was nearing dead, so I only had one shot–one chance to take a picture before the battery would surely die.  I began to get uneasy because this was one of those photography tasks that you would have to take several shots to get right.  So I turned on my camera, and I framed the path with the rainbows still moving and varying color all along the white gravel.  After I took the picture, I noticed my camera said the battery was full.  This was such a relief, because as I continued to walk further downhill along the path, I took an endless amount of shots trying to capture this phenomenon. None of the pictures were spectacular, but they did reveal the scene.  What I did notice was, that when I was looking through the viewfinder, the rainbows came out much more vivid that in the captured photograph.  This made sense–I’d need a longer exposure to get a brighter rainbow, plus I couldn’t capture the best part, which was motion they made.

So, I decided to film a video of the scene, and switched over my camera’s shooting function.  I began to film the trail.  I panned way down towards the end of the trail, and noticed a family of two parents, and a young girl were now in the shot–but they were so far away they were only a few pixels of the image.  As I walked closer to them I took videos of only the nearby trail to capture the details of these strange dynamic psychedelic rainbows that seemed to take the place of sunlight on the trail.  Eventually I came up right next to this family, and found them to be very much in the same awe as me with this strange occurrence.  I passed them up and was now at the end of the trail way down in the valley of the mountain.

The trail transitioned into a building that went as a tunnel through a portion of forest that was densely covered with vines.  One side of the building was open, and you could see a wall that was covered with these vines.  In fact now that I think of it–it was exactly like the old business building at USF.  As I began to walk into this place, the rainbows remained, but they gained a new composure.  They were still only appearing between the shadows where the sunlight would have appeared, but now they were illuminated silhouettes of palm trees, each tree in a different color.  As the trees overlapped, the colors made gradients much like a regular rainbow would.  At this I stopped the video I was filming, because I found four of the rainbow-light trees together in what would make an awesome photo. So I walked up to frame a shot.  It was tricky… I remember thinking that I could have used a tripod, since a very slow frame rate was required.  I figured I’d just use a faster shutter-speed, and adjust in Photoshop so I could still get a sharp image.  As I tried to frame the shot I got in the way of the sun that shined from the open wall to my left.  As I did this, I casted a shadow, and that portion of the palm tree-rainbow thing went away just as regular sunlight would have.  Eventually I was able to take the picture, and with that I awoke.

I was in a room that was very dark–pitch black dark, but light enough to see with adjusted eyes. It was a very strange sort of hall, where the width was about 20 ft, and the length was maybe four to five times that. If I looked towards one side of the longest wall, I could see a door like the kind you see in western movies.  It did not cover the entire opening, and so a bunch of light shined through from the uncovered openings.  Despite the large amount of light that was able to pass, the room strangely remained in pitch black darkness.  Something was in the middle of the room under a dark sheet.  It was on a semi-raised platform–that or it was just really tall.  I couldn’t tell, because for some reason I never did look directly towards this part of the room, instead I stayed on the side and began to operate a fog machine.

Soon fog filled the room, but what was strange was that as it reached high towards the ceiling, it was changed into various different colors.  There seemed to be some sort of lighting system above, but I couldn’t actually see any lights–just the colorful refraction of light through the rising fog.  Indigo, Blue, and purple seemed to be the most predominant colors.  It would make sense that I was on the back of a theater stage, but I never will know–because I hadn’t explored the rest of the space.  The whole time I was alone, yet I felt as if someone was there, because ever action I took in operating the fog machine seemed to be for a reason I could not determine.

I was inside a building that seemed rather old from its appearance. I started towards an elevator and got inside along with a number of other people. The door closed, and the elevator began to rise. It stopped at only a few floors off and on, and then after about the 40th story it began what would be a non-stop trip to the top.

The elevator began to lift faster and faster. It got to the point where it seemed like it must have been going in excess of 45mph–maybe faster. Eventually it began to move so fast that I wondered if I wasn’t hundreds of feet into the sky already. As the elevator violently shook from it’s extreme velocity, I noticed cracked paint, and general wear and tear with an overall vintage feel that made me question the elevator’s reliability. Just then the door unexpectedly slid open in error, and I could see tens of floors or more fly by in less than one second. As wind began to blow violently, everyone rushed to grab hold of the wooden railing on the side of the elevator in fear that they might fall out of the now exposed opening.

After a few minutes went by there were no longer any floors to be seen out the door, and only a solid wall could be seen. The colors on the wall were brown with random lines that almost made it look like something extra-terrestrial.

Eventually the elevator began to slow down, and a voice announced that it had reached the top. Everyone walked out onto a broad circular roof complete with a caged railing system, obviously to prevent people from falling. I looked around and then down, but I was so high up that I couldn’t see the ground–it was too far away. It just didn’t seem possible, but it appeared as if the elevator trip was one to edge of space. I remember being overly cautious while walking around, and just then I awoke.

I was at a Hall and Oates concert, right in the front row.  As they were playing a song, I noticed that Oates had cut his hair (I later looked that up and discovered it was in fact true).  After the song they stopped playing, and people began to leave, the show was over.  I just thought it was strange that they didn’t demand an additional encore.  Why the hell would the fans leave before the band?  You know? Anyway, At this moment, Oates turned and began to strike up a conversation with me.  We didn’t talk about anything specific, just generic conversation, and a bit about music.  After Hall had put away his guitar, and taken care of a few things with a tech on the stage, he walked over and joined in the conversation.

The odd part about this whole thing was that I hadn’t initiated the conversation–it was Hall and Oates, that decided they wanted to talk to me. Furthermore, they were really excited to talk with me.  It was as if I was another famous musician, because they treated me just as if I was a peer.  In any event, as we talked more we got onto the subject of Yatch Rock, which in case you don’t know is an online parody which contains Hall and Oates.  I was curious to see what they thought of it, and they told me that they were proud of being included in it.

I was in a basketball arena prepared to compete at free throw contest. I was competing against someone else that I did not know. We each were given 80 shots, and there was a scoreboard to keep track of everything. I remember my opponent made a lot of his first shots, and then had a huge streak where he missed at least 20 in a row.

When he was finished it was my turn. I made the first shot, then the second, and the third. I kept going–I made at least 15 in a row until I missed a shot. From then on I missed only a few shots. I was clearly on the road to victory when something strange happened. The ball ran out of air–it became like a deflated balloon. I tried to dribble it, but it just hit the ground and stayed there. For obvious reasons requested a new ball. Oddly there were only three balls around, and all of them were just the same–deflated.

After not being able to find a new ball, I walked outside into some sort of garage in search of a ball. Again–same thing everything I found was deflated. I though it was very strage. Eventually I found this one ball that was perfect. I grabbed it, and when I was ready to continue the contest, I noticed my finger was dripping with blood. I have no idea what I did to it, but there was no way I could use that hand to finish the 30 some shots I still had left. It was agreed that the contest would be postponed to a later time. I probably could have beat my opponent easily. Maybe in a later dream I’ll be able to finish the contest.

I was traveling on a multi-laned highway approaching a large city. For some reason nobody else was on the road but me. As I got closer to the city there was a series of confusing exit ramps and merging lanes. I remember thinking that it was always impossible to remember which way to go at this point.

Eventually I remembered my way. As I approached the city, the highway began to rise into the sky and went over the tops of some of the tallest buildings. It touched most of them as if it was a game of connect the dots. There were many abrupt turns and the road had no railings. One wrong turn would be fatal, but at the time that thought never crossed my mind.

As I continued to drive, I found myself looping back towards something familiar. Then I realized that I was right back where I started–I made a huge circle. It seems I had no choice but to merge onto the same stretch of highway from before. Everything was so familiar to me. As I continued to drive I decided that this second time I would not make the same mistake again. I was determined to succeed in reaching my destination. When I got to the point where I made my mistake last time, I woke up.

DREAM TWO

I was standing at a window that never used to be there. As I looked above to the sky, I noticed something floating in the heights. A UFO of some sort–an extraterrestrial city nested in the clouds above the Earth. It made no noise, and stood almost stationary. I never was worried, but then I began to wonder if anyone (or anything) within it was watching me. I decided to run to the other room to get my camera, but something like a trance of wonder kept me there to watch a bit longer.

When I broke out of it I configured my camera’s dials to ensure I’d get the best picture. As I returned everything was in its right place. I framed the camera on the UFO, and took the picture. I wondered if whatever was piloting this massive floating craft knew what I was doing. Would it care? When I went to check the picture in my camera’s review function I noticed that there was nothing but sky in the photo. The craft was curiously absent. I decided to take another shot, but just as I hit the shutter the craft disappeared instantly from the sky.

I was so confused, and as I was wondering the nature of all of this I decided to sit down for a bit. Some time later I returned only to find the same craft in the same place in the sky. I was in awe with the size of this craft. It was literally the size of a city, floating so high and far away.

I was in a strange building without any windows. Everything was lit by tungsten lights which caused a yellow-orange tint to appear on every surface. There were lots of people in the building walking around in the hallway I found myself in. Everybody seemed to be heading somewhere, but nobody knew to where or why they were traveling. I was doing the same thing as everyone else—I fit right in.

There were these staircases that went all over the place. Some of them only went to certain floors, and others ended abruptly. It was a maze. We were all trying to find some way out, and everybody took the challenge at a leisurely pace.

Eventually I came to a door, and as I opened it I noticed a crowd of people sitting in chairs in front of a stage. The room was very dark, and show of some sort was in the process. I went to take a seat. When I sat down I noticed Joe Satriani (my favorite guitarist at the moment) was right next to me. I said hello, and when we start talking, and he tells me that in a little while he’ll be heading off to do a concert. He told me to join him and to bring some of my friends if I want. After speaking with him, I left the room to get ready for the show.

And so I was back in the hallway wandering, and I found my way to another room that contained tables. This was apparently the place Satriani was supposed to give his concert. Everyone was waiting for him, and I headed towards the stage to catch up on things. Instead of walking around the crowd, I decided to fly over them—which I did. I remember an elderly woman gave me a strange stare, not as if she was in wonder for that fact that I could fly, but because I chose now to fly.

I was still too early for the show, so I decided to walk out of the room and do something while I waited. I went out the same door I entered the room by, yet I was in an entirely different place. It was a huge sunken room (almost like a lobby) with walkways going all around the perimeter. There were a few staircases to get down into the room. It was a giant meeting place for people to eat, complete with a buffet and dining tables. I remember being here before in a previous dream.

I decided it worked out because now I could grab something to eat. When I went to find the food, I noticed there was nothing left. Just then I look towards the far side of the room, and the wall disappeared. The room was completely exposed to the outside elements.

I looked outside and noticed a vast green grassland that stretches as far as the eye can see. Everything was glowing brightly–shining in golden-white sunlight coming from the perfectly white clouds that covered most of the blue sky. It was heavenly. It was almost hard to see from the brightness of the light, but as I walked into this place my eyes became accustomed.

Far in the distance I noticed a raised walkway with railings that spanned the entire horizon from left to right. It was so far away that it was faded from the haze of distance. I noticed there was food on top of a section of the walkway. It was set up on a table as if that is where the buffet had been moved. I walked closer, but before I got there I realized there was no way to access the walkway, and it was far to high to reach. There were a few people doing the same thing as myself, but nobody was able to succeed.

I noticed a very tall person about 100 yards away from me walk up to the railing to grab some of the food. We figured he would grab some food for everyone.

He walks up and grabs a donut with rainbow sprinkles (the one I was thinking of eating myself), and he starts eating it. I wasn’t too bothered because I figured that there were plenty more left. As I’m thinking that he starts grabbing the rest of the donuts and eating all of them. People began to get mad at him and wonder why he was being so selfish. When he started to walk towards us, we figured he was finally going to share some food with us. He walked closer, but then abruptly turned around, walked back, and started eating more of the food. I made a joke about how he was eating everything in sight, and everybody laughed. It was then that I woke.
